Cheerfulness
Ok, so. Da Virus. No dancing around it … even though we’re currently out of isolation … it still exists and none of us really knows what’s around the next corner. Ug.
We’ve all got our coping mechanisms … ignore the whole mess, wallow in all the news about it, worry yourself to death, etc. Mine seems to be following The Guidelines but ignoring the news, playing cheerful music, watching happy movies and creating colorful art. I’ve been painting lots of flowers. The flowers are sort of an indulgence, actually. They don’t exactly sell off the shelves, but they are such fun to create … and they’re so flippin’ cheerful!!
So I thought I’d share a couple of recent ones with you today. I’m working on a new technique … the sunflowers in my 6/15 “Is This Heaven” post is an example. As is the less shockingly colorful but fun “A Light That Shines For Me” that follows. Btw … recognize that title? It’s a line from John Denver’s awesome, amazing “Sweet Surrender.” Sigh. Did that boy die too young or what? 🙁
Anyway … loose and fun. Not to say my next piece won’t be more structured … like the tulips below!
Point being. As we all muddle along, my advice is find something that you love. Fix up an old car. Read a good book (I recommend Jane Austen) or better yet, write a good book! Sew a quilt. Adopt a doggie or a kittie and give them some love! Bake a cake. Bake two cakes (chocolate of course).
And hang in there.

As always, a click into the pics will take you to my website. Images are available as lots of varieties of wall art plus cool gift ideas. And in a nod to Da Virus, we’re doing face masks now, too.
I'd love to hear your thoughts!
