Beach Grass
It’s been a long time since I’ve been to the ocean … a long time since my toes scrunched in the warm sand, a long time since my ears heard the thundering breakers before my eyes watched them crash. Not sure how many years exactly, but too many for beach-loving-little-me.
One of my favorite parts of visiting the ocean is that moment right before you see the water … when you’re walking (or running) along the path and about to head over the tops of the grassy dunes … when you can hear the boomers … feel the salty wind in your face. That split second of anticipation is bliss.
I took this originally photographic image at the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Not at all sure, but maybe as many as 10 years ago, possibly even longer. I can’t access the original, so I can’t be certain, but it was probably snapped with a little point and shoot camera that was my first digital. I knew nothing about composition at the time (well, don’t really know THAT much more, now, lol) but I think I got lucky with this shot. The image itself, in its many and various versions, has been carried over from computer to computer all these years because I loved it. I frequently cruise through my image library and it’s one of the ones that always makes me stop and visit. No idea why, as it doesn’t include the ocean itself, nor does it show blue skies, or even fun, scary stormy clouds. But to me it just says “Beach.”
So … here it is … Photoshopped to within an inch of its life and digitally hand painted with the Wacom tablet in Corel Painter 2015. Added a texture from Jerry Jones / Shadow House Creations in PS6.
….
As always, remember that a click on the image will take you to my website for a better resolution view … also, a few fun products, in addition to glorious wall art. I liked the way a couple of these turned out, in particular the tote bag …
I'd love to hear your thoughts!
