While Walking The Dog
Jumping back into a summery image, briefly, to show off a fun something I captured in early September while walking our little dog, Buddy.
There’s a lot to be said for physical exercise … all the doctors and the health-blogs and the self-help books extol its virtues for our physical well-being. Emotional, as well, you know, it gets the endorphins and what-all buzzing. But to me, there’s even more to it than that. There’s the extra little benefit we get when we maybe don’t walk QUITE so fast … and when we take a little bit of time to exercise our eyes, too, and in so doing, exercise our attitude of gratitude for something lovely that we may have discovered along the way.
One of my all-time favorite quotes is from Roald Dahl, and I believe in it with all my heart … “And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”
I captured the original photo of what I probably should have titled “(While) Walking The Dog” in Montgomery County, Maryland. The fun bit is, I took the pic with my cell phone, not my dslr … amazing what you can do with Photoshop and other programs!! After a little editing in Photoshop CS6, I digitally hand painted it with a multitude of brushes in Corel Painter 2015 and the Wacom tablet for a playful, painterly look. The comical little robin’s image was captured in Bedford, Pennsylvania.
As always, clicking into the picture will bring you to my website where you’ll be able to see the image much better. Remember to look closely !
I'd love to hear your thoughts!
